aboutagirl, a rising pop duo from London, release their second single “KaMiKaZe”. Made up of Tom Mann and Lostboy – two young but well-established pop writers, the duo came together after they realised their shared desire to create their own alternative-contemporary pop music, giving their own personal commentary on the world around them.
aboutagirl has been building hype with support across both Spotify and BBC Radio 1, with their debut single “Forest Fire” being played on the station’s ‘Best New Pop’ after its release in May.
The video for “KaMiKaZe” is an assured, finessed affair that points to their innate, inner-city sensibilities – Shoreditch’s Bache’s Street being overtaken by a KaMiKaZe mural to coincide with the single’s release. The track’s fresh, jagged production and vocals drawing on urban rhythms and melodies blend in an unorthodox but genre-defining style, an identity that moves across pop and R&B spectrums.
