Anaïs & The Hoops open the new year with the release of the music video for “Growing Pains,” a standout track from her debut EP of the same name. The song dives into the emotional terrain of friendship as a form of love—just as formative and lasting as romance.
“Friendships shape us just as deeply as romantic love, especially the ones we carry from childhood into adulthood,” Anaïs explains. “The song is a love letter to best friends and to growing up alongside the people who feel like home.”
Directed by Grace Pomilla, the video blends intimate live performance moments with nostalgic childhood home footage. Shot at Purgatory in Bushwick, it features Anaïs’ full band and a circle of close friends, reinforcing the track’s theme of chosen family. The result is a visual that feels warm, wistful, and softly dreamlike.
With her jazz‑inflected vocals, reflective songwriting, and retro‑tinted pop sensibility, Anaïs & The Hoops has quickly become one of indie music’s most distinctive emerging voices. Originally from San Diego and now based in Brooklyn, she spent her early career performing in jazz clubs before carving out her own artistic identity. Her debut EP, released in September 2025, has already earned praise from NPR Music, Ones To Watch, and WFUV.
