Australian pop-artist Lark has decided to take back her power from the streaming giants and has forged her own path forward with the launch of her exclusive music NFT (Non-Fungible Token) collection. The collection, available at https://w3lp.io/mint/lark, was announced alongside her stunning music video for “11:11 Acoustic.”
The 11:11 Collection redefines what a music NFT can be – merging sound, story, and fine art into a single visionary experience. The “11:11” collection contains 1,111 unique NFTs featuring original artwork by Italian artist Christian Cordella, the world-renowned Hollywood character concept artist behind designs for Marvel and some of the most iconic films of our era. Each NFT includes a unique token, ensuring scarcity and ownership of the digital asset. With this project, the boundary-breaking singer seeks to foster community through technology by revitalizing artistic ownership in digital spaces. We caught up with Lark to talk more about it.
You just released your new acoustic music video for “11:11” alongside the launch of The 11:11 Collection as a way to take back ownership of your art. What made you decide to release music as NFTs rather than traditional streaming channels like Spotify or Apple?
I released 11:11 as an NFT collection because I wanted to create something deeper than a stream. I wanted to build a universe that listeners could actually step into. Traditional platforms are great for reach, but they don’t allow artists and fans to build real connection or share in the value of the art. With NFTs, my collectors own a piece of the story, the music and the world we’re creating together. It’s intimate, it’s empowering, and it lets my community and I grow side by side. 11:11 isn’t just a song to play, it’s an experience and a community to belong to.
One of the NFTs for this release is an e-book and audiobook inspired by the song “11:11.” Can you tell us more about that and what inspired you to create a story from the song?
When I wrote the script for the “11:11” music video, I ended up creating an entire world around it. A cinematic, romantic universe inspired by the classic Mills & Boone novels. The song had this deliciously nostalgic 80s romance energy and as I fleshed out the visuals, I realised the story wanted to exist beyond the screen. So, I wrote it! I also turned it into an audiobook because there are playful, comedic moments and character quirks that come alive when you hear them performed. It felt like the most natural extension of the song’s world, letting fans not just listen to 11:11 but step fully into its pages. The audiobook narrator, Peta Johnson, is one of my closest friends and just happens to be an incredible voice actor so we both jumped at the chance to work together.
The single “11:11” was originally released last year. Today, we are lucky to receive the acoustic version as a music video. As part of the NFT collection we see there are also several other versions, do you have a favorite?
It’s so hard to choose because each version reveals a different facet of the story. The acoustic version is intimate and vulnerable. But the cinematic version has a special place in my heart. It’s sweeping and emotional, with that big, romantic, orchestral energy that makes the 11:11 universe feel larger than life. It captures the magic, the drama and the destiny of the song. Each version exists because the story wanted to be told in different colours but if I had to pick just one, the cinematic one truly feels like the heartbeat of the world I created.
What has it been like working with Italian artist Christian Cordella and how did that relationship form?
11:11 is the third NFT collection that Christian and I have worked on together. Christian is just wonderful to work with and brought such care, imagination and intention to this collection. We were actually connected through dear mutual friends, the very same people who first introduced me to Web3 and NFTs! So from the beginning, it felt like the universe had arranged it. When I shared the 11:11 world with Christian, he immediately understood its romantic heartbeat. He didn’t just create artwork, he helped bring the mythology of the story to life.
You’ve stated it is important for you to create a community rather than a transactional artist to fan relationship. How have you broken down that barrier to create a community that fans can participate in?
I never wanted a transactional artist-to-fan dynamic where I communicate from a distance and people just consume what I make. I wanted a world we could build, and a journey we could go on together. I hold weekly online concerts and hangouts, which are the highlight of my week! I also created a Discord community with a dedicated collector-only corner where we can chat, and I can share more about myself and my music. What’s been beautiful is that we show up for each other every week. It’s a two-way relationship. We’re not just trading music, we’re building something meaningful together. It was really important to me that this collection serve not only as a gateway for Web3 savvy people to join the community but for people who don’t know anything about Web3 to be able to join too. The wonderful team from w3lp.io not only brought the collection together in such a beautiful way, they have also enabled credit card payments so that non-crypto collectors can very easily collect and become part of the community.
With an imaginative approach that crosses music with the tech world, Lark has once again sought to break the boundaries of what it means to be a traditional artist. She cultivated herself as one of Australia’s first NFT pop artists putting her own spin on the existing practice, reigniting blockchain tokenization’s potential to transform mainstream music spaces.
