Burris portrays Liz Johnson in Back to Bridgewood, a once wealthy and adored television sitcom star who possesses everything. But when a devastating accident puts her in a coma for three months, Liz wakes up to find herself in a drastically different world. Fired from her network series, blackballed from Hollywood, and facing the foreclosure of her home, Liz has no choice but to return to her hometown of Bridgewood to rebuild her life.

The film’s tone has been described as Bruce Almighty meets Abbott Elementary, offering a balance of humor and inspiration that resonates with audiences of all ages. Liz’s journey is filled with comedic ups and downs as she navigates life outside of the limelight. One of her first challenges is securing a job. From failed career attempts to ultimately returning to her roots, Liz discovers the unexpected beauty of life’s simpler moments, leading her to a job she never imagined—as a teacher’s assistant for a middle school student named Paul at Duke Ellington Academy.

Paul, a wise student beyond his years, guides Liz on an inspiring adventure that imparts profound lessons about life, friendship, and the power of faith. Through her experience with Paul and the community in Bridgewood, Liz learns that strength, courage, and the ability to rise above adversity are far more valuable than fame or fortune.

Produced by Sovereignty Entertainment Inc., Back to Bridgewood blends comedy with powerful messages about resilience and transformation. The film’s unique storyline is elevated by Nakia Burris’s standout performance, bringing Liz’s emotional journey to life with humor and depth.

“With this film, my goal was to craft an inspirational comedy with heart—something uplifting, relatable, and inspiring for everyone, no matter where they are in life,” says Burrise. “It proves laughter and resilience go hand in hand. Back to Bridgewood is more than just a comedy; it’s a heartfelt journey. It shows how faith, laughter, and God’s grace can carry us through even the toughest of times.”

With an impressive mix of comedy, heart, and soul, Back to Bridgewood is set to be a feel-good hit that will resonate with audiences across the nation.
