EP The Pictures You Paint is out now. Across four distinct tracks, the band sketches out a musical landscape that’s as vivid as the title suggests, and you are taken on a journey through shadow and light.
You open with the dark charge of “Come Alive” and close with the final burst of sunset, “Open Up Your Dreams.” “How Does It Feel” begs to know what it’s like to live in someone else’s shoes—to quiet the noise in your head, to let your insecurities go. “Fake It” flips that coin to find out that what we see from the outside isn’t always reality. Each song feels like a different frame in a film reel—moments of lust, longing, hope, and heartbreak captured not just in lyrics, but in the tone and texture of the music itself.
You will hear Vermantics’ high-voltage live show brought into the studio: their recordings are fully alive—performed, not programmed. No drum edits, no studio trickery, just the sound of a real band, playing real songs, in real time, and this new release is no exception. Co-produced by the band and industry heavyweight Phil Threlfall, whose mix work gives the EP its punch and polish, and mastered by Grammy-nominated, ARIA Award-winning Andrei Eremin, The Pictures You Paint marks a confident leap forward for the Melbourne-based four-piece.
You trace a band built on legacy and instinct, anchored by brothers Stefan and Daniel Fedele, whose roots trace back to Adelaide’s underground scene. The lineup, completed by lead guitarist Jack Stevenson and drummer Julian Perrotta, who also happens to be Stefan and Daniel’s cousin, brings an electric chemistry shaped by influences from 60s melodies to 90s grit, filtered through a modern lens.
After a huge UK tour in May that saw sold-out shows and crowds shouting back every word, the Vermantics are riding a serious wave. Their recent singles “Come Alive” and “Open Up Your Dreams” have gained serious traction, setting the stage for The Pictures You Paint to hit even harder. It’s Vermantics in full color.
