The silence is officially broken! Boston’s own powerhouse JVK is thrilled to announce the immediate release of their brand new single, “Get Offline,” which is available now on all major streaming platforms. This isn’t just a new song; it’s the band’s first single in almost two years and a bold declaration that redefines their entire musical trajectory for the foreseeable future.

Forget the hard rock sound you might remember from their early days in the gritty New England DIY scene. “Get Offline” cements JVK’s electrifying evolution into something wilder, more vibrant, and undeniably infectious—a chaotic, high-energy fusion of retro glam rock, synth-pop groove, danceable beats, and punk rock spirit.

Born from the basements and dive bars of Boston, frontwoman Jo Krieger, alongside Atticus Crowley, Kay Kwiatek, Liv Barcohana, and Zach Feinstein, has transformed JVK from a local hard rock act into a nationally recognized force. With a vibrant stage presence, empowering lyricism, and a sound that’s already taken them to stages like Louder than Life 2023 and Boston Calling 2024, JVK has already racked up six cumulative Boston and New England Music Award nominations. With two EPs under their belt and a highly anticipated debut album in the works to solidify their retro-glam-synth rock sound, “Get Offline” is the exhilarating first taste of a band in meteoric rise.

What sets your music apart from others in your genre?

We have recently been experimenting with synths and poppy hooks that I don’t think you can really find in punk/hard rock music. I have been told by lots of people that JVK doesn’t make actual rock music, but I think they just don’t get it yet hahaha. It is an experimental sound, but going outside the box that genres create is so important in my songwriting practice.

Can you walk us through your creative process when writing or producing music?

Typically I (jo) am constantly writing music and sending it to the band, whether it’s rough voice memos or actual demos recorded on my computer. I am spamming the band constantly, and I always do the bare bones for the structure of the song, so when I finally bring it to the band, they can put their own personal touch to it.

What’s the core message you hope fans take away from your music?

A core message I always strive for is no matter who you are or how you identify, you should always feel empowered to be yourself no matter what is thrown at you. It sounds cheesy in hindsight, but I treat the music and the live performance as a safe space for people to fully express their emotions and who they are, and I care about that deeply.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received about your music or career?

Always knowing when it is time to reinvent yourself was a piece of advice I took from a podcast about being successful in the entertainment industry. Never staying stagnant and experimenting while still being true to yourself is something I carry with me. That and letting your audience of people find you versus you finding them. I never make music for a specific audience; I make what I want the world to hear and hope whoever is meant to find it can resonate on as deep of a level as me.

Has your musical journey followed a clear plan, or has it evolved naturally over time?

The only part of my journey that has been clear has been my vision, but the path has had a million different obstacles to jump over with twists and turns along the way. I’ve always known whatever I do in music will be successful and reach people, but the idea of knowing how to do so has been a challenge with a lot of trials and tribulations.

Do you have any upcoming releases, videos, or shows fans should know about?

Of course! We are playing the New England Music Awards on November 16th, and we are opening for War on Women on November 20th at the Middle East in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We have lots of new music coming very soon; there are a lot of exciting things ahead.

If you had a time machine, would you travel to the past or the future?

I would go to New York City in the 80s so I can dance to Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode in a club on Friday night or I would go into the future to see how successful I became in music, hahahaha.

If your life had a theme song, what would it be?

If it was a song I wrote, it would be My Own Man, and if it wasn’t, it would be So What? By P!NK

What’s something that always makes you feel nostalgic?

Fall in my hometown for sure; it creates a sense of longing for a time I have never experienced, and it is something I can only ever experience in New England. Back roads, the change in foliage, indie rock, and the slight temperature change when September hits are very nostalgic.

If money were no object, what job would you choose to do anyway?

I would immediately buy everything I ever wanted for the band and make music forever. A huge tour bus, a house for us to live in, and a state-of-the-art studio—it would be the dream.

If you had to describe yourself as a flavor, what would you be?

I would say rocky road because I feel like it has a cult following, and it’s not a flavor everyone enjoys, but the people who do can’t get enough of it.
