British-born musician and trained dancer, Leon Else releases the lively new music video for “Dance,” (out now via What Are We Doing/Interscope Records).
The video, which was created to reflect how music can be a form of therapy, showcases Else’s fluid dancing and singing skills. “The song is about dancing as a way to make depression go away,” says Else of the new track. “It is about how music can be like medicine and finding ways to get through life by yourself. For me, that’s moving and being physical.”
Featured in New Music Friday on Spotify, “Dance” is the follow-up to Else’s major label debut single “Black Car,” which gathered over 600,000 streams on Spotify and mirrored “his own personal evolution” according to Popdust. Watch the video for “Black Car” featuring actress Suki Waterhouse.
Known for his articulate songwriting, introspective storytelling, and impassioned dance moves, Else has captured his work ethic through his music. Coming from meager backgrounds, Else hustled and saved to put himself through classes at England’s finest dance schools. These courses would propel Else’s skills, eventually landing him in the Daniel Day Lewis’ film NINE. Refusing to accept a life in the background, Else returned to music, the craft he used as a distraction from his struggles with ADHD and depression. After self-releasing his EP in 2014, Else found his home at What Are We Doing/Interscope Records, with his debut full-length set for release next year.
