South Florida band SIREN rediscover their spark with a melodic rock record built on heart, hooks, and hard-won perspective. SIREN have been carving out their unique blend of melodic rock and roots-driven storytelling since the 1980’s.

What began as a hard working regional act soon evolved into a group with national recognition and a fiercely loyal fanbase. Fronted by singer, songwriter, and founding member Rob Phillips, the band has weathered lineup changes, industry shifts, and the rise and fall of countless trends—emerging now with their most cohesive and compelling work to date.

With drummer and engineer Mike Cupino as Phillips’s longtime collaborator, SIREN has spent the past few years refining their sound, building on decades of chemistry while opening the door to new creative voices.

Enter guitarist Tanner Hendon and vocalist Beth Cohen, two seasoned players whose arrival sparked a fresh wave of inspiration. The result is their latest record, Listen, the band’s newest album engineered by Wyatt Oates at Madison Studios in Atlanta and arguably their defining artistic statement.

From the first notes of the opening track, “Small Town,” Listen announces itself with confidence and warmth. The song is a nostalgic look at the innocence of youth and the places that shape us.

The accompanying video, directed by Isaac Deitz (Manchester Orchestra, Grouplove, Switchfoot), became a viral success on TikTok, surpassing one million views and introducing SIREN’s timeless sound to a new generation of listeners.

As the album develops, it becomes clear that Listen is very much a renewal. “Dead Beggar” roars with gritty guitar work and a swagger that nods to the band’s early days, while “Arrow” strikes a balance between melodic precision and emotion.

“Nightmare Paradise” dives into darker terrain, pairing haunting lyrics with gleaming production that gives it a modern edge. Each track shows a band that knows who they are, unafraid to explore new territory while staying true to their roots.

The title track, “Listen,” has a story all its own. Originally conceived as a collaboration with a pair of German fans, one of whom had never played guitar before, the song embodies the band’s belief in connection and perseverance. “He worked on it for months,” Phillips recalls. “By the time we got his parts, we weren’t sure if it fit – but it ended up becoming the heart of the album.” It’s a fitting metaphor for SIREN’s journey: dedication, patience, and the magic that happens when music brings people together.

Throughout the album, Oates’s production captures both the grit and grace of the band’s sound. Hendon’s guitar lines shimmer and bite, Cohen’s harmonies add emotional lift, and Cupino’s drumming keeps everything grounded. Phillips ties it all together with vocals that are powerful but never forced—all imbued with the perspective of a man who’s lived through both the noise and the silence.

Across ten tracks, Listen is a statement of arrival. It’s about standing in the present with confidence. SIREN has taken the long road to get here, but the result is worth the wait.

I fell in love with music when I first picked up a guitar at age 8. When I played, my friends and family would smile and spill with joy over the music I played, even though it was never Grammy quality. While my music career never made it past high school, my love for music never waivered. I loved the feeling of bringing a smile to someone's face through music and wanted to keep that passion going. So, I took it upon myself to continue to support and promote artists by writing about their music. This way, I can support my personal passion for music and bring entertain and joy to others through music.  Outside my love for music, I do enjoy a good hike and being in the outdoors. My favorite place that I've hiked is in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. I love to travel too. I've been to Costa Rica, Vancouver, BC, and England, but the best place by far is Germany on Oktoberfest. I liken that experience to being in New Orleans on Mardi Gras. I like a good book now and then, but I'm more of a streaming fiend. I live for crime docuseries on Netflix, veterinary shows on National Geographic, and re-watching Scrubs on Hulu.
