Trusting the Process

For Anna, “Aligned” is more than just a song; it’s a realization that every setback was actually a setup for growth. After collaborating with Timbaland on her debut EP, If You’re Still There, she decided to take the reins entirely for this release.

“Producing the song myself was essential,” Anna shares. “It’s about doing things on your own terms. This was the first time I fully trusted myself across every part of the process, and that confidence shaped both the sound and the message.”

The track explores the bravery of being seen “chasing something” in a culture that often prizes effortless cool over raw ambition. When Anna sings “you never knew me,” it isn’t a jab—it’s the clarity of someone who no longer needs external validation to feel whole.

A Viral Demand

Anna has quietly built a massive community, boasting over 135K followers and 13 million views. The buzz for “Aligned” reached a fever pitch after a rough snippet went viral online, with thousands of fans demanding the full version.

The Technical Edge:

  • Self-Produced: Anna’s classical piano training and self-taught production skills are on full display.
  • Grammy-Tier Polish: The track was mixed and mastered by Koen Heldens (known for his work with Doja Cat and XXXTentacion).

Rooted in Duality

Born to immigrant parents from Armenia via Brazil, Anna’s artistry is defined by her unique background and multi-instrumental talents. Her music blends the discipline of a classical musician with the grit of a modern producer, creating a sound that is both sophisticated and raw.

How would you define your unique musical style?

I’d describe my sound as cinematic and emotionally driven. It lives somewhere between alternative R&B and experimental pop, shaped by tension, atmosphere, and restraint. I believe less is more, and I’m very intentional with my production choices. I also love using vocal layering almost like a production tool, building emotion and emphasizing specific moments.

Can you walk us through your creative process?

I create out of necessity, never with a specific agenda about what my discography needs or what will make people happy. I make music because it’s how I process my life. It’s something I have to do. I’ll usually find a chord progression that captures what I’m already feeling, then build the sonic world around it. From there I focus on the topline and melody, and the lyrics come once the music feels right. My favorite step is recording backgrounds and harmonies. It’s like entering a flow state. I just know what the song needs, and it’s so satisfying playing it all back once you’re done stacking.

What’s the core message you hope fans take away?

That you can be ambitious and vulnerable at the same time. You can do it scared. A lot of my music lives in that tension, and honestly, so do I. I hope people feel seen in their complexity and empowered to take up space without shrinking themselves.

Which albums have impacted you most?

Coldplay’s Parachutes feels like home to me, I always go back to it when I’m feeling a little lost. Radiohead’s OK Computer shaped the kind of tension and feeling I’m always chasing in my own music. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is an all timer, she set the bar for masterful storytelling. They’re all embedded in some way in my musical DNA.

What sets your music apart?

I don’t strictly pull inspiration from my own genre or from artists who sound like me. A lot of my influence comes from producers, film scores, and classical music, which naturally creates something that doesn’t sit neatly in one box. I also produce my own work. For the most part, it’s just me in my bedroom studio, so it feels very internal and intentional.

What do you love most about being an artist?

What I love most about being an artist is the ability to turn something internal into something shared. You can take a feeling you didn’t fully understand, shape it into a song, and suddenly someone across the world connects to it. That exchange never feels normal to me. It’s intimate and surreal at the same time.

If your life had a theme song, what would it be?

Probably the Succession theme. Not because my family is anything like the Roys, just because of the music and atmosphere. The classical theme layered with those 808s and drums is so brilliant. And honestly, the industry I’m entering can sometimes feel just as ruthless and cynical as the world of that show.

What’s something that always makes you feel nostalgic?

Disney Channel commercials. No one really watches cable anymore with streaming taking over, and kids just have Disney+ now but that whole experience was such an integral part of growing up. The music videos during commercial breaks, the stars drawing the Disney logo with the sparkly wand, that iconic Disney Channel voice. It immediately takes me back.

If you could ask your future self one question, what would it be?

Did George R.R. Martin ever finish the books? (I don’t really want to know anything about me, I’ll find out eventually.)

Which fictional character do you wish existed in real life?

Baelor Targaryen. What a man.
