St. Divine burst onto the New York music scene in early 2024, and their momentum has shown no signs of slowing.

After a slew of fifteen live performances at popular New York clubs, the duo is set to return to La Palapa on April 23rd, where they began one year ago. Building on the success of their Bob Dylan tribute night last January, St. Divine, along with special guests, will present the songs of the Velvet Underground at La Palapa 77 St. Mark’s Place in New York City at 7:00 PM.

The April 23rd tribute coincides with the debut EP release, which includes all St. Divine singles as well as a bonus track that alludes to the band’s origin and influences. St. Divine is unique in that the band is fronted by both Will Croxton and Judy Ann Nock, who co-write most of the songs in addition to sharing the lead vocals. Sometimes alternating and sometimes harmonizing, the pair have an uncanny blend that has inspired a growing following.

Origin Story

Croxton and Nock met as the backup singers for Ivan Julian (founding member of Richard Hell & the Voidoids who has recorded/played with The Clash, Matthew Sweet, etc.) at his City Winery career-spanning retrospective “Without a Net” in December of 2022. Croxton was the co-author of the title track lead single from Julian’s latest album, Swing Your Lanterns, for which Nock provided backing vocals. The two ended up performing side by side along with luminaries from the New York City music scene, including Al Maddy (Joey Ramone, Jesse Malin), Mike Ratti (Morgen, The Nails, Hot Hero Sandwich, Rex Smith), who joined them in recording new material as St. Divine together with bassist Jesse Barnes and guitarist Philip Yanos (Driver X).

About

Will Croxton is a prolific, multi-talented songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, producer, and audio engineer who has been steadily writing, recording, and releasing music in and around the genres of punk rock and Americana. His past projects include D.T. & the Shakes, Idle, DriverX, The Habit, and The Royal Wylds, and he continues to release new music with his garage/soul group Them Sinners. Croxton is also co-proprietor of SuperGiraffeSound, an analog recording studio in Brooklyn.

Judy Ann Nock is also a singer and electric sitar player in the Hoboken-based rock band Psych-O-Positive and a backup singer in Ivan Julian & the Magnificent Six.
