Advantages of Buying a Tuxedo Over Renting

Whenever they have a formal occasion coming up, many men debate whether it’s time to rent a tuxedo or buy one for themselves. If you have this debate before your next big event, you may want to consider some of the advantages of buying a tuxedo over renting one and see if they make the decision any easier.

    Better Fit

When you buy a tuxedo, you can have it made for your body with custom measurements that create a perfect fit. Rental tuxedos are frequently uncomfortable because they use generic measurements or standardized sizes that may not be comfortable if you have to wear them for several hours. When you have your own tuxedo, even if your body changes over the years, you can take it to a tailor for adjustments rather than renting a tuxedo that will only roughly match your body type.

    Personal Style

With rental tuxedos, most shops keep things relatively basic. Black tuxedos and gray tuxedos can vary slightly in color, material, or patterns. Some shops might have a little more to offer, but there’s a lot more to consider when buying your own tuxedo. You have much more creative freedom when designing a tuxedo for yourself instead of borrowing one from a rental shop.

    A Family Heirloom

One of the most significant advantages of buying a tuxedo over renting is that you’re not just getting a tuxedo for yourself. It’s an heirloom that you can cherish or pass down to future generations. When you buy a tuxedo, you have a tuxedo that becomes part of your family history and always keeps a memory of special events with you.

    Overall Cost

Even if you only bust out your tuxedo two or three times a year, the rental fees of borrowing a tuxedo over investing to buy your own start to add up. It may be a good idea to invest in the cost of buying your own tuxedo to save money in the long run.
