From Bordeaux, France, Quintana Dead Blues eXperience return with Ashes, a raw and unrelenting new album arriving June 26, 2026. Built on a foundation of blues-rock, stoner grit, alternative edge, grunge abrasion, and stripped-down rock’n’roll, the project channels both American heaviness and French underground spirit. It’s the sound of lifer Piero Quintana pulling from decades of instinct, somewhere between the weight of Sabbath, the ragged nerve of Nirvana, and the lineage of French disruptors like The Inspector Cluzo, Trust, and Les Thugs.

After years spent circling the outer edges of rock—from ’90s bands to long stretches as a one-man wrecking crew—Quintana steps forward again, now backed by drummer Adrien Schiavone. As a duo, they hit harder, looser, and far more dangerously. Ashes thrives in that volatility. It’s a record built on instinct rather than polish, always threatening to slip out of control but never quite doing so.

Written and recorded over three days in January 2026 at Silver Recordings in Bilbao, Spain, the album captures that tension in real time. Produced, recorded, and mixed by Martín Guevara of CAPSULA, the sessions were tracked almost entirely live—minimal separation, no safety net, everything bleeding into everything else. You hear it in the push and pull between instruments, in the moments where the songs teeter on the edge, in the grit that refuses to be smoothed out.

Quintana’s guitar tone is thick, saturated, and restless. His vocals—less treated than ever—sit exposed in the mix, carrying the full weight of the songs without disguise. Tracks like “Spell on Me” and “Wild as Fire” move with blunt-force momentum: riffs that drag like heavy machinery, rhythms that feel closer to impact than groove. “Still Haunted” leans into a darker, more spacious tension, while their take on “School” pulls Nirvana through a heavier, more abrasive lens. The whole record feels physical—like stepping out of a packed room into cold night air, sweat still clinging, ears ringing.

Beneath the distortion, there’s something deeply human. A worn-down honesty shaped by years spent chasing sound without compromise. Quintana has always moved just outside the spotlight—through projects, cities, and eras—never settling, always searching. You can picture the in-between moments: flipping through dusty records, leather jacket creased from years of use, chasing a sound that refuses to sit still.

Quintana Dead Blues eXperience don’t tidy the edges—they lean into them. Ashes is loud, physical, and immediate. A record that trades polish for impact and emerges stronger because of it.
