Dave’s Highway is an intertwined, free-spirited breath of fresh air, making an impression one song and three harmonies at a time. The band’s name is derived from their lineage and was established early on when Zach (guitar), Delaney (bass), and Erika (lead vocals) traveled cross-country as youngsters. The clan’s shared passion for music, “together is better” philosophy, and unwavering “all or nothing” gumption form a tightly knit bond of mutual trust and genuine friendship.
With rich dynamic harmonies, honest lyrics, and a seamless blend of soft rock and country, the trio brings an authentic new voice to modern country music. Each member brings something uniquely their own to the mix.
Their music has earned them comparisons to Little Big Town, The Band Perry, The Civil Wars, and The Martins. Known for their genuine lyrics, undeniable chemistry, and blood harmonies, Daves Highway has captivated audiences since their YouTube breakout in 2009 (amassing well over 20 million views with the performance of “Jesus Messiah”). The group has recorded and released four studio albums, appeared on the “Bobby Bones Show,” played the Ryman Auditorium, shared stages with Darius Rucker, LeAnn Rimes, and the Eli Young Band, and in 2023, toured with country music hitmaker Jake Owen.
The band celebrated the release of its fifth recording project, IF YOU ASKED ME, produced by Geoff Sprung (bassist for award-winning, seven-time ACM and CMA Vocal Group Old Dominion), in late August 2025. The six-song EP spotlights emotionally rich, harmony-laced musical narratives and a unique musical interpretation of Martina McBride’s iconic hit ballad, “Anyway.”
What first got you into music?
Growing up in Mississippi, music was always part of our lives, whether at home, church, or school. We’ve been singing together for as long as we can remember; we started in church when we were young children. It wasn’t planned—Delaney was practicing the national anthem for a middle school pep rally, and Erika just started singing harmony with her. That organic moment sparked our love for creating music together as a family. The formation of “Daves Highway” just happened naturally.
Who inspired you to make music?
While we didn’t grow up in a “musical” household, our parents were a huge influence. Dad’s love for Rock ‘n’Roll and Mom’s passion for classic country shaped our sound. We also admire artists like Little Big Town for the foursome’s harmonies, The Civil Wars for their raw emotion, and The Martins for their gospel roots. The “connection” through music is what inspired us to pursue this path.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Our music is a fusion of contemporary country and soft rock, defined by tight three-part harmonies—what folks in the South call “blood harmony.” We write honest and introspective songs with lyrics about love, life, and faith. Our sound is modern yet organic. …heartfelt storytelling with a mix of classic country and rock influences.
What’s the best show you’ve ever played?
Playing the Ryman Auditorium with Bobby Bones in Nashville for a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital fundraiser was unforgettable. The history of that venue and the cause we were supporting made it incredibly special. Sharing the stage with artists like Darius Rucker and Jake Owen on tour in 2023 was also a highlight—the energy from those crowds was electric.
What’s the funniest thing that’s ever happened at one of your shows?
One time, during an acoustic set, Zach’s guitar strap came loose mid-song, and he had to keep playing while holding the guitar up with one hand. Delaney and Erika tried to keep a straight face, but we all ended up laughing through the rest of the song and the audience loved it.
What is your creative process like?
Our creative process varies. Erika’s been writing songs since she was six, often starting with a melody or a personal story. Zach and Delaney prefer co-writing, bouncing ideas off one another as a collaboration. We usually start with a feeling or experience—oftentimes, Erika’s love life sneaks into the storyline. Then we layer in harmonies and work with producers (most recently, Geoff Sprung) to refine the sound. It’s a family effort from start to finish; we work together to get it right.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
We’d love to collaborate with Little Big Town—their harmony-driven sound aligns so well with ours, and we admire their storytelling. Another dream would be to write/play with John Mayer; his blend of soulful lyrics and guitar work would add a cool dynamic to our music.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
We want our fans to feel understood and encouraged. Our music is about shining a light in dark places and sharing stories that resonate. We’d tell them to stay true to themselves and find strength in faith and family, as we do.
What is your favourite song to perform?
Our favorite song to perform changes–especially as we write new ones. Currently, we can collectively say “Astro Van” because it starts with an a cappella verse that grabs people’s attention and then it rocks out. It’s an ode to our roots and the audience loves it!
10. What are your musical plans for the next 12 months or so?
Our new EP, IF YOU ASKED ME, is finally out and we are so excited for people to hear it! The project was produced by Geoff Sprung of Old Dominion. It features five original songs and a cover of Martina McBride’s “Anyway.” We’re planning more live shows, possibly some online performances, and maybe filming a music video or two to bring these songs to life. We’re also hoping to tour more and connect with fans across the country.
If you could have any superhero power, what would it be and why?
Zach: I LOVE Spider-Man. Always have, always will. That’s what I’d want. Spidey powers!
Erika: I would talk to animals
Delaney: Teleportation because I love to travel and I could go anywhere I wanted with the snap of a finger.
If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or back to the past?
We’d go back to the past for sure—maybe the ‘70s or ‘80s—because the music was so insanely good. Building a fan base by playing shows every night and touring the “old-school way,” without social media being a necessary driver, would be the dream.
What’s your favorite sports team and why?
New Orleans Saints all the way. We come from a long line of Saints fans. Who Dat!
What would you do if you had to work but didn’t need money?
Delaney: I love fashion. I would be a stylist for myself and others. I kind of already do this for our band.
Erika: I would run an animal rescue!
Zach: I would buy and sell guitars under my own shingle as my own business. I really enjoy guitars!
What actor would play you in a movie about your life?
Delaney: a younger, brunette Reese Witherspoon – like when she was in “Sweet Home Alabama”
Erika: Maybe Leighton Meester?
Zach: I’ve been told I look like a few different guys in the movies. James McAvoy or Josh Hutcherson, maybe?
If you were to write an autobiography, what would it be called?
“Every Mile Marker Is A Memory” by Daves Highway
What would be a good theme song for your life?
“Boondocks” by Little Big Town. It’s one of the first songs we learned and it resonates with how we grew up in Mississippi
If you could ask your future self one question, what would it be?
“Did we ever win a Grammy?”
Spotlighting emotionally rich, harmony-laced musical narratives (written and co-written by the trio alongside Stephen Hunley, Bobby McLamb, Ryan Rossebo, Bill DiLuigi, Jude Toy, and Peytan Porter), the tracks are defined by acoustic warmth and introspective lyrics, and revealing Daves Highway’s knack to carry the listener through love and loss, vulnerability, growth and resilience.
Invigorating melodies, signature harmonies and modern production enliven reflections that trace the journey through breakup and heartache, longing and regret, faith and courage as portrayed in the lead single “Happy To Be Sad;” the spirit of bounce back in “Good Luck Girl;” the longing for true love in
“Heaven High,” and the nostalgia of a distant memory in “Astrovan.” Offering a unique musical interpretation of Martina McBride’s iconic hit ballad, “Anyway,” the trio pours love and intention into every breath, beat and lyric.
“Recording this project was a labor of love and the release feels like a long time coming. The storylines chronicle a series of life’s ups and downs, encompassing relationships, personal growth and positive reflection,” said the band.
