Coming off of Suicide Prevention Month and presently in Mental Health Awareness month, recording artist Davis Mallory (aka DAVIS) is encouraging others through new releases “Lifeline” and “Heavy” to combat and support others facing mental health challenges.
Growing up the grandson of esteemed Christian psychiatrist and author James D. Mallory (“The Kink and I” and “Battle of the Sexes”), DAVIS felt called to bring awareness to the topic of mental health. He explains, “I’m very passionate about the topic of mental health. As the grandson of a psychiatrist, I do, in some ways, feel a call to help and minister to others through my music. The song ‘Lifeline’ specifically ends with a list of national resources for those battling addictions, depression, or people who may have been witness to or victims of human trafficking.”
Initially released in September during National Suicide Prevention Week, DAVIS wrote “Lifeline” alongside Damian Malnar, lead singer of the Nashville pop band Lost Stars. With October being National Mental Health Awareness month, DAVIS is gearing up for the release of the music video to accompany the track. Filmed in Miami – a city known for hard-partying, alcohol, drug usage, and human trafficking, the music video for “Lifeline” is directed by multi-award-winning filmmaker Dmitry Zhitov. The clip shows DAVIS roaming Miami, entering into a motel where a woman battles depression, a bathroom where a man battles drug addiction, and the streets where a woman faces human trafficking. The video ends with a list of Lifelines for Suicide Prevention, Drug/Alcohol Addictions, and Human Trafficking with the hope of being a resource for those looking for help.

Similarly, DAVIS tackles the serious conversation of relationships impacting mental health with his other new release, “Heavy.” After receiving encouragement from Revry CEO Damian Pelliccione to collaborate with other queer artists, DAVIS created the track alongside Nashville-based LGBTQ rappers Daisha McBride and Blake Lieder, with both artists appearing in the music video as well. Filmed in Nashville, TN, by director Derrick Lipschitz, the music video offers a visually appealing, artistic interpretation of how relationships can be complicated. The video shows each featured artist talking to their significant other while wearing a specific color: DAVIS in orange, Blake Lieder in aquamarine, and Daisha McBride in purple.

“Heavy” appears on DAVIS’s recently released sophomore album Little Victory. The album was written in Stockholm, Sweden, Berlin, Germany, and Nashville, TN, and features many Nashville pop artists, including artist Madeline Finn (American Idol), Miss Audrey (winner of Nashville Independent Music Awards’ Best Pop Artist in 2019) and Luma (vocalist for high-profile EDM DJs Nurko, Adventure Club, Crystal Skies, Last Heroes, ARMNHMR), among others.
DAVIS is the grandson of a Christian Psychiatrist (Dr. James Mallory, Jr) and felt the call to create a Mental Health Awareness project. DAVIS is also sober (celebrating five years in January 2022), experiencing the victory over alcohol/drug addiction, making it his mission to help others.
2020-2021 has set many milestones for DAVIS. Earlier this year, two notable DJs put their mark on his album Little Victory – Swiss DJ Fenox produced “Forget You,” and Ukrainian DJ Depdramez produced “Broken Dreams.” Additionally, French DJ, Retrovision, remixed “Little Victory” and the remix was signed to Don Diablo’s record label, Hexagon. His song “Forget You” was also remixed by Swedish DJ John Dahlback, whose version “Forget U” was signed to Hardwell’s label Revealed. DAVIS is also approaching 1 million streams on Spotify with his song “Without You I Feel Good.” The track was written in Berlin, Germany, produced by Russian DJ Nexeri, and released on Soave Records. Other new releases are set and will be available in the coming months.
Known from MTV’s The Real World (Denver) and MTV Challenges (Inferno/Duel/Rivals), DAVIS has made a new name for himself as a featured vocalist for DJs internationally with renowned acts Retrovision, Going Deeper, John Dahlback, Landis, Dropgun, DJs from Mars, to list a few, and music signed to record labels including Warner Denmark, Soave, Hardwell’s label Revealed, EDX’ label Sirup, Arman Van Buuren’s label Armada, Cedric Gervais’ label Delecta + Don Diablo’s label Hexagon. DAVIS’s music has been supported by some of the industry’s biggest DJs, including Tiesto, Morgan Page, Don Diablo, and has been featured on TV/Movies, including MTV’s War of the Worlds, Hulu’s Good Trouble, & Snapchat original series Growing up is a Drag. Raised singing in his church choir in Georgia during his adolescence, DAVIS is now sober for just over four years and dedicates time to helping others recover from addictions, too.
