You are invited to explore the vibrant and heartfelt world of Swiss singer-songwriter Andrea Schmider with her deeply personal and artfully arranged new EP titled Potpourri, released this May. Presented by Decent Music PR, this five-track collection captures the many layers of life—from longing and loneliness to joy and transformation—woven together in a delicate tapestry of emotional depth, humor, and healing.

Outdoor musical performance with singer-songwriter Andrea Schmider playing guitar at dusk.

Just as a potpourri blends different shapes, colors, and scents to create a harmonious whole, Schmider’s latest release skillfully combines diverse musical elements. You will find folk-pop instrumentation and lush strings accompanying vivid storytelling, creating a cohesive and heartfelt listening experience that invites you to reconnect with the colorful mix of life.

Schmider shares, “Writing helps me process life, and my existence never stops offering new inspiration. I hope this music touches people, brings them peace and energy, and helps them reconnect with the colorful mix of life.” This approach shines through each track, encouraging you to embrace your own emotional journeys.

The EP opens with “Set the Sails,” a stirring metaphorical journey about navigating change when life’s anchor gives way. This track inspires you to find the courage to make quick decisions and choose to set sail instead of remaining adrift. Following the opener is “Fractured Beauty,” a song influenced by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, honoring the beauty found in brokenness and the light that shines through life’s cracks. You are reminded to see strength and beauty in healing.

With “Lonely Streets,” you will experience a melancholic yet hopeful story about dislocation and self-discovery. This track captures the bittersweet process of letting go of the familiar to find belonging in the unfamiliar, resonating with anyone who has faced such transitions. In “Going in Circles,” playful, childlike elements contrast with deeper emotional undercurrents, portraying the frustration of feeling stuck while holding on to the hope that paths may someday cross again—something many listeners can relate to.

The EP closes with “Sweet Stillness,” a quiet invitation for you to face inner silence and discover the joy that lies within. Balancing the fear of solitude with the freedom it can bring, this track offers a gentle space for reflection and peace.

Produced by the acclaimed Swiss producer Manuel Halter, known for his work with artists such as Luca Hänni and Remo Forrer, Potpourri features a handpicked ensemble of top-tier studio musicians and co-writer Nadine Yomi, a London-based artist originally from Switzerland. Together, they have crafted a sonically rich and emotionally resonant body of work that channels the spirit of artists like Nina June, Lana Del Rey, and Brooke Fraser.

Throughout the EP, you will discover Andrea Schmider’s signature warmth and versatility, shaped by years of experience in both the studio and on stage. Born at the gateway to the Bernese Oberland, she discovered her voice before she could walk and grew up inspired by great storytellers like Whitney Houston and Sandy Patti. After performances at venues such as Theater National Bern and Parkarena Winterthur and previous releases including her debut EP Beauty from Ashes (2012) and album Promise of Spring (2016), Schmider continues to invite you into her authentic and grace-filled musical journey.
