Singer-songwriter Edwina van Kuyk (‘kow-k’) returns with her most intimate work yet: Feels So Right, a three-track EP out today October 28 on all streaming platforms. In this exclusive feature, Edwina opens up about the inspiration, stories, and creative evolution behind her latest project.
On the Journey Behind ‘Feels So Right’:
“Feels So Right is about learning to let go, trust yourself, and find beauty in the chaos,” Edwina shares. “Life doesn’t always make sense, but when something feels right, you have to follow it.” The EP explores themes of surrender, friendship, and self-trust—marking a new chapter in Edwina’s artistry and personal growth.
Sonic & Emotional Evolution:
The EP is a vibrant blend of nostalgic vocals, soulful grooves, and radiant melodies. Each track glows with both vulnerability and confidence, offering a sound that’s as emotionally grounded as it is polished.
Track-by-Track:
- “Tailspin” opens the EP with a powerful metaphor—using an aircraft spinning out of control to reflect on surrender and acceptance. “It’s about embracing uncertainty and turning chaos into something cathartic,” Edwina explains.
- “Never Not To Know Each Other Again” is a heartfelt tribute to transformative friendship and loss. Inspired by three friends from a songwriting retreat, the song honors Edwina’s late friend Anouk. “Anouk taught me to trust my gut and believe in my music,” she says. “This song is about how strangers can become family and change your life forever.”
- “Feels So Right” closes the EP with an anthem of confidence and creative freedom. “I’ve spent years listening to other people’s opinions,” Edwina reflects. “Now I just want to make music that feels right to me.”
Letting Go & Trusting Yourself:
Across all three songs, Edwina blends emotional honesty with grounded production, echoing the EP’s core message: let go of control and trust yourself fully. “Feels So Right is an intimate reminder to lean into the unknown and create for the purest reason—because it feels right,” she says.

The EP was written by Edwina van Kuyk, Cian O’Donoghue, and Gabrielle Deschamps (on “Tailspin”), produced and mixed by Cian O’Donoghue, and mastered by Pete Maher.
Who inspired you most when you were just starting out?
James Morrison, Gavin Degraw, Jack Johnson – I still love all of these artists & listen to them to this day! I think they’re a major contributor to the soul aspect of my music. I believe them when they’re singing & that’s a really important thing for me. I usually connect with a voice before I connect with a song.
How do you handle stage nerves—has your approach changed over time?
These used to be really bad. I remember one gig where I literally thought I was going to pass out & it was because so many people I knew were coming – that always makes it worse, haha! But nowadays, I’ve begun to feel really at home on stage & the nerves have definitely dissipated.
Which song do you love performing live the most, and what makes it special?
Never Not To Know Each Other Again – I cannot help but smile the whole way through this song. I sang it this past weekend and I felt like I was going to burst out laughing during it. It fills me with so much joy! The song is about 3 friends of mine who have absolutely changed the way I see the world, and myself as an artist (they’re artists too!), but also I have never laughed so much with a group of people in my life. When I’m singing the lyrics, I just feel really overcome with love, as cheesy as that sounds.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received about your music or career?
This advice came from my good friend Anouk, who happens to be one of the people ‘Never Not To Know Each Other Again’ is about. She really taught me how to hone into my own sound, how to trust my gut & follow what’s right for me. Before meeting her, I had half the confidence in my music. Now, I really believe in it!
What are your musical goals or plans for the coming year?
I want to do as many live shows as possible! I hope to get out on tour in 2026, & to just continue writing & releasing music. It’s been a long time coming and now that I’ve started releasing, I don’t want to stop.

If money were no object, what job would you choose to do anyway?
I honestly have to pinch myself sometimes because in a lot of ways I’m doing exactly what I’ve always wanted to do. I will say though, if money were no object, I would throw absolutely everything into getting my music heard, getting it out there. I would love to make music videos & I have some really fun ideas for promo. So hopefully at some point, I can make them reality.
What’s something that always makes you feel nostalgic?
I recently went back to my school to talk about songwriting, and I hadn’t really prepared myself for how much of a time capsule it would be. I’m lucky to say that I have lovely memories of my school days & I’m still really close with a lot of my friends from school to this day, so it’s usually when they’re thinking back on things that happened that I feel nostalgic. That being said, there is no money you could give me to be a teenager again haha!

What’s your most treasured piece of clothing?
I love buying second hand clothes & there is this amazing girl, Gracie who has a business called Spice Vintage. I was travelling back from the US recently & they lost my suitcase. I didn’t realise how devastated I would be because I didn’t think I was so attached to my clothes. But it’s because I knew that I couldn’t easily replace any of the clothes I had collected over the years. Long story short, I actually did get my suitcase back eventually & I have a new found love for my clothes.
If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
This is not actually representative of my life because I don’t think I’ve once done this haha, but ‘Dancing in The Moonlight‘ by Toploader. It’s my favourite song & everytime it comes on I just feel so happy. So hopefully, the rest of my life is just a lot of that feeling.
