When you first go freelance, it’s often such a strange feeling. Because at first, you were working for a company as an employee. You had a boss, you had structure, and you had to be accountable to someone else – or a full range of people. However, when you go freelance, this couldn’t be any further from the truth. You no longer have a boss, because you’re the boss. And there’s no immediate structure unless you’re the one that puts it in place. And, finally, you’re not accountable to anyone. Not really. Although you are a bit to your clients. But essentially, you’re there to hold yourself accountable. And when combined, your freelance business can seem hard to manage. So what do you need to do to improve upon that?

    Get Into A Routine

To start off with, you need routine. And while this really doesn’t have to be anything too structured that you find drags you down, if you’re too free with your time, it could really harm your productivity. And you may never know where you are with your work. So establish a routine that can help you to stay organized.

    Minimize Distractions

Another thing that can threaten the way in which your freelance work is managed, is distracted. And we’re all prone to distractions in one shape or form. So if you know that you get sucked in by the TV or talking to family members, then you’re going to want to put a plan in place to stop this from happening.

    Streamline Everything

Next, you’re going to want to minimize your workflows as much as possible. Because if you’re overcomplicating process, repeating things, or just not being as efficient as you can be, it’s going to slow you down. And this can cost you money or lose you work. So, you need to think about what you can do now to change that. It might be to go straight down the single source of truth path with an expert to help you. It might be your own systems that you choose. Just make sure that you’re finding out what works best for you here.

    Have A Set Work Space

Logistically speaking, it’s essential that you have some kind of workspace for yourself. Because if you are working on the couch or the dining table and you’re not able to focus, there’s your problem. So get a desk, reserve yourself some workspace, and what your workflow transform.

    Network

Finally, it’s definitely going to help you if you can connect with others freelancers. Do you find it really hard to focus? Is it hard for you to be able to hold yourself accountable for the work that you need to do? When this is the case, you might want to find other freelancers that you can co-work with. Or at least network with on a regular basis. Because this might help you to up your game productivity wise, which can in turn allow you to manage your workload better.
