Bringing your child home for the first time and caring for them is an exciting time for new parents. The typical household can have various dangers in it that could harm an infant or young child if you aren’t cautious, though. For this reason, we talk about how to keep your baby safe at home here. With our pointers, you can avoid and prevent accidents both small and large.

    Stay Present During Baths

Babies can drown even in small amounts of water. So, when giving your baby a bath, you should remain present and attentive the entire time. Don’t exit the room briefly while your child is in the bathtub under any circumstances. If you must leave, take them out and bring them with you. To make your bathtub a bit safer for your baby in general, you can attach a mat to the bottom so that it’s less slippery.

    Select Toys Carefully

Toys are practically essential for young children to entertain themselves. However, you must be selective about what kinds of toys that you let your baby play with. The toys should not have any little pieces that you can remove, as these can act as potential choking hazards. Toys should also be made of non-toxic materials and lack sharp edges. Thankfully, manufacturers make it easier for you by labeling their products with ideal age ranges. They’ll also let you know whether a toy is non-hazardous (non-toxic, no small parts, etc.) through its packaging.

    Make the Crib Secure

Many parents set their babies down in cribs when it’s time for them to sleep for the night. Since you won’t be able to monitor your baby constantly while you’re resting, crib safety is important. As you assemble it, make sure that you’re attaching every segment firmly so that the crib is stable when you’re finished. The crib design itself should have bars that aren’t farther apart from each other than about two inches so your baby can’t squeeze their arms or legs through them. Finding a mattress that fits the exact dimensions of the crib frame will also prevent your baby from becoming stuck along its edges. Place the crib in an area where there are no objects nearby that your child can reach, and remove any toys and other items from the crib at night. With these actions, you should be able to keep your baby safe at home.
