Divine Magazine is pleased to bring you an interview with Ayeshah Rose. Ayeshah is an actor, model, writer and filmmaker. With a diverse culture of South Asian and European descent, Ayeshah has had numerous roles in television series across Australia.
Some of her credits include Underbelly – A Tale of Two Cities, Angel of Mine, Home and Away. With experience in the changing industry, Ayeshah is reclaiming her Asian/Pakistani culture and is excited to represent the richness of the combination of cultures. Ayeshah is currently writing, alongside ACCTA nominated director Melissa Anastasi a feature film blurring the lines of fiction and documentary, a captivating story, using her life as a metaphor and embracing her multicultural heritage.
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do.
An insanely creative person. Let’s say an office job would be the end for me. I’ve been writing and telling stories since I was about three as a means of survival and self-preservation. I have been acting since I was 12 as a way to find confidence, living in the shadows of my inspirational older sister, who was born with confidence I didn’t have. It was a motivation for me to try and find my voice.
Give us some details about a typical day in the life of *YOU*
First thing when I wake up, I like to move. High-intensity resistance and interval work best for me. Then I make a plant-based protein smoothie before meetings on Zoom or in person. Next, I take a break from the screen and do some scene study of lines I may be learning or reading. Then I work on writing projects before going to a circus contortion class or dance later that evening. I generally fill my days, but I like to go to bed and wake up early.
Do you have a motto or a mantra you apply to work, life, or both?
I am neither; I am either; I am no one; I am anyone; I am whoever you believe me to be.
What trait do you think most benefits you in your line of work?
Probably my intuition. It helps protect me from people who don’t resonate with the same values; otherwise, you’re forcing something that doesn’t feel right, and the work or product will always suffer.
What are your hidden inspiration sources? How do you generate new ideas?
Anything good that happens to us in life comes from another human being. So I connect and give to others as much as possible to stay connected to humans and their own stories.
If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?
Tenacity.
If someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would play you?
I would hope Michelle Rodriguez.
Tell us about your film work and why it is so important to share the stories.
I believe the fastest and most effective way to empathize is through film, for me personally. I want to be of service to a story and continue telling stories that help shape our personal growth and mainly our own awareness, permitting us to unite across culture, social changes, race, and background.
What do you have going on in your career now?
I have a feature film, Everything in Between, coming out on October 20th across Australia. It’s something I’m excited about because it’s a special film. I also am in pre-production of my first debut feature film as a writer and actor. It’ll be a project of a lifetime for me and something I am honored to do.
