Dominique Simone’s soulful vocals and velvety tone are what sets her apart as one to watch in 2021. Citing Jorja Smith, Lianne La Havas and Kiana Ledé as her biggest influences, Dominique commands her own distinctive sound, effortlessly blending elements of neo-soul, R&B and alt-pop.

Dominique Simone is a confident performer with a strong work ethic. As a young girl, she was always drawn to music, teaching herself the piano and writing songs from as young as eight years old! She began performing professionally at sixteen, gigging around her local area including Granvilles Brasserie & Music Bar, local festivals, online live shows, and a couple of live appearances on Stafford FM. She has had a couple write ups in local papers too! She also began to seriously work on her original songs with the recording studio Inspire Music. Her debut Single ‘Serenity’ was released on 6th June to a brilliant reception by publications such as Music News, Conversations About Her and Neon Music.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

I think it has impacted the reach people can have. Although there are more opportunities for people to ‘make it’ the market has become very saturated making it hard to stand out!

Have you got a ritual of sorts when writing and thinking about your music?

I usually write around 2 or 3am. What I normally do is wait until I start to feel passionate about something, good or bad and then put on my voice notes, play the piano and see what comes out!

How would you describe your music?

I would say my music is rather genreless. Every song I write sounds different to the next. The great thing about the way I create my music is that listeners always have something new and fresh to listen to!

    What’s next for you?

I plan to release once a month for a further 5 or 6 months and see where it takes me! I want to see how people react to my different styles and makes plans for my music based on that!

What are your top two favourite songs of all time? Why those songs?

Chelou- Halfway to nowhere. I love this song because I found it by accident on YouTube and the music video and music completely captivated me.  Good Company- Mahalia. The way this song grooves always has me dancing around my room!

What was the last series you watched on TV?

    Waterloo Road!

What do you think the greatest invention has been?

The compass! It is pretty crazy when you think about

Do you have any lucky items, objects, or traditions?

Not one in particular but I love crystals, my favourite is Malachite.

If you could ask your future self one question, what would it be?

    Are you content?

If you had to describe yourself as a flavour, what would it be?

    Salted caramel, no idea why!
