Growing up jamming together on their family farm in South Australia, sisters Georgia (guitar, keys), Ella (bass, electric cello), and Clara Germein (drums) have since been turning heads with their unique brand of indie pop songs and signature harmonies.
Whether it’s opening for Phil Collins, touring UK stadiums with Little Mix & Jess Glynne, or playing to a sold-out hometown crowd in Adelaide; Germein’s energetic and charismatic live show has been described as nothing short of mesmerising.
Taking the lead from strong female artists like HAIM, Chvrches, and Tegan & Sara; Germein possess the kind of close musical partnership that can only be shared by siblings.
The trio are making a statement with their bold new single ‘Good For A Girl’ which they wrote, recorded, and produced themselves in their home studio. ‘Good For A Girl’ touches on the siblings’ personal challenges they’ve faced being an all-female band in today’s music industry.
The song’s powerful lyrics are blended with the raw combination of edgy guitar hooks, quirky piano lines, and rhythmic vocal percussion – topped off with haunting sibling harmonies.
‘Good For A Girl’ was recently announced a 3rd place winner in the International Songwriting Competition for Best Unsigned Artist, and Honourable Mention for best Lyrics – out of a staggering 21,000 entries across the globe.
Who inspired you to make music?
Our family has always been a big inspiration for us – Dad played trumpet in a New Orleans rhythm & blues band, which sparked our love for loud, feel good music we could dance to – and Mum often led singing around the piano. Growing up on a bushland property meant our neighbours were quite far away so we’d make a lot of noise and listen or jam along to all kinds of music. Nowadays we are also inspired by our fans too.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
The world of social media is an amazing tool in allowing artists to connect with their fans from all over the world, especially over the last couple of years throughout the pandemic when touring was put on hold. However, the constant pressure for new & updated content can become overwhelming and exhausting for many in the business, and for us, we found we’ve had to be intentional about taking breaks from socials, so we can focus on making great music first & foremost.
Have you got a ritual of sorts when making music?
I (Georgia) am naturally more drawn to reflect inwardly on my thoughts and feelings, and song-writing has always been a positive way for me to express how I’m feeling by getting those emotions out of me & onto paper and into music. It’s always been a very freeing experience. Usually lyrics come first, and then the music just happens instinctively.
When we wrote our latest single ‘Good For A Girl’, we all sat down together in the studio and brainstormed the ideas we had for the song, then I went away and wrote a verse & a chorus. After this we came together again and finished the song.

Indie pop with sibling harmonies.
What’s next for you?
We are over the moon to have finally arrived in the UK to tour our brand new songs this summer. After this tour we’ll head back to Oz and finish recording the new music we’ve been working on, which we can’t wait to share with you all soon. Our team is currently planning our 2023 tours so stay tuned for when we’ll be heading back!

Wow too many to choose from. Let’s go Songbird by Fleetwood Mac & Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles. Simply beautiful lyrics & melodies.

What do you think the greatest invention has been?
I’m biassed (Georgia), but the invention of musical instruments is pretty amazing when you think about it. It’s crazy how so many different sounds can be made using certain objects crafted in a particular way, tuned to a particular vibration. And the fact that when the instrument is played it has the potential to connect with us on such a deep level as this universal language of music.
Do you have any lucky items, objects, or traditions?
I (Georgia) generally keep pretty quiet before a show, and am usually found side stage tuning and re-tuning my guitars. Ella always wears some sort of hot pants or sequin item on stage, which she says gives her confidence and gets her into ‘band mode’. Aside from drumming on pretty much anything she can find, Clara is pretty chilled before a gig, and is usually wearing a key around her neck – made by a charity supporting homeless people called ‘the giving keys’.
If you had to describe yourself as a flavour, what would it be?
Clara – Mint: classic, but everyone enjoys mint.
Georgia – Coconut: subtly sweet, & a good allrounder,
Ella – Watermelon: because she’s sweet, loves summer, can be fresh at times haha, and mixes well with all the fruit flavours if you were going to make a juice.
