Linn Willner is a singer/songwriter from Sweden. Linn recently released her new single Morro Bay.
The empowering track came to the artist when she was overwhelmed by her own thoughts so took the piano to clear her mind. The result is a cathartic offering that shows off Linn’s sweet and airy vocals as they float across a delicate piano line.
Linn Willner explains more about the themes of the song:
I’ve always been a dreamer trying to fit in. As early as I can remember, I’ve always seen myself go down a different path than what was expected of me. During my entire life I was perceived as naive and had too big dreams for my own good. I tried to be the perfect girl for everyone except for myself and it led me down a dark road. I was at a crossroad, where I could envision two different lives for myself, one where I was the perfect girl from the outside, but inside the little dreamer was imprisoned by doubts. Or take the road toward my own happiness, but by doing that feeling like a disappointment to everyone around me. For me Morro Bay symbolizes taking ownership of the only life that you will ever have.
Linn Willner grew up in an academic family and felt a lot of pressure to be the “perfect girl” in everyone else’s eyes. Linn soon realised that to be the best version of herself, she needed to embrace her true passion: music. Having always been a huge part of her life, she wrote her first song at just 4 years old and later in life found that music has been the only place she can truly be transparent and free.

What is your creative process like?
I sit down by the piano and let the chords guide me to a melody I like. I usually have a feeling or something I want to write about, and then it just sort of comes. It’s like I can hear them, how the drums will sound and where the guitar solo will play. It’s at this point where I feel like everything is in harmony and at peace. It’s therapeutic.
What does your music say about you?
I like to explore different topics with my music, and I always have a connection to what I’m writing about. My inspiration can come from a story, a conversation, discussion and all in between. That’s what I love about music and creativity, you can draw it from everything. Everyone can interpret a song and relate to it differently by applying it to their life. I love to set color to the world and use my music to inspire color in other people’s lives.
Would you like to collaborate with anyone? If so, who and why?
I’m a huge fan of Ed Sheeran and I’ve been that for many years, so it would have been a dream come true and an honor to collaborate with such an icon. But if I could travel back in time I would have loved to be on the same stage as Freddie Mercury and the rest of Queen.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
In the end it’s you who are going to live your life and live with your decisions, so you better make it one hell of a life.
Have you always been interested in music? Was there a particular song/performance that made you say “Woah! I want to do that!”?
I’ve always been interested in music ever since I was very young, I wrote my first song when I was 4 years old, I did, however, steal the melody to that song. When I was 17, I was at a Shawn Mendes concert and instantly I felt like I needed to be on that stage one day, it was an incredible moment, and I knew I wanted to do the same.
If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?

Do you have a cherished childhood teddy bear or other stuffed animal sitting on your bed at home?
Yes, I have a few actually. I have one named ”Voven” who I got when I was baptized and one named ”Kanin” which i got when I was around 3, and they will always be with me. I apparently did not have a great imagination when I chose their names because ”Kanin” just means ”rabbit” and ”Voven” is just a nickname for ”dog”.
What would be the ideal food to have cooked for you on a date night?
I’m not a good chef so I would be impressed by almost anything tasty, but ideal food for a date would be if he cooked me sushi.
