Southern California artist teo tala reminisces on a lost romance in the new song, “last red light,” a bouncing pop track that skillfully combines melancholy lyrics and a bright, intoxicating melody. Addictive and reflective, the single journeys through spaces once shared with a significant other, feeling the weight of love’s absence on top of a satisfying acoustic guitar.

teo tala has accomplished a unique track with “last red light,” making you want to tap your foot and bob your head, on top of lyrics that are melancholy and pensive. He showcases his ability to walk listeners through a vivid story while giving them an unforgettable beat. The verses are immediately enticing, opening on “I’m toxic, I lost it / When you left me from Boston.” Paired with a quick and rhythmic strumming of the guitar, a relatable and lively song unfolds. “I wrote ‘last red light’ to explore the physical and emotional void left behind after a breakup. It’s about the haunting familiarity of the places you once shared with that special someone and that heavy, lingering ‘what if’ that still exists in those same spots,” tala explains. “To me, the track captures the exact moment you realize the only way to keep someone is through the memories you still hold of them, while the person you loved moves on without you.” Produced by Bryan Hernandez with mixing and mastering by Hersol Hernandez, tala somehow presents a single that is as catchy and fun as it is heartbreaking.

teo tala is a Filipino-American indie-pop artist exploring vulnerability and heritage in his work. Pulling from his Southern-California roots, Filipino background, and mental health journey, tala thrives on bedroom pop and confessional lyricism. He is inspired by artists like Khai Dreams and Jason Mraz, creating emotionally charged works centered on the destruction of relationships. With its quick beat and stimulating guitar strums, “last red light” paints a clear image of being haunted by lost romance.
