Los Angeles based alt-rock artist, Dusty Durston just released his debut EP, Manchester Music.

Durston’s unique brand of unapologetic alt-rock takes familiar influences from the ‘90s, only to turn them on their head. Incorporating punches of 00’s emo and the irreverence of modern hip-hop, his music is playful, energetic, and deviant. So is he. Manchester Music includes three of Durston’s previously released singles – “Valley Girls (Balisongs),” “de Sade,” and most recently, “Joke Got Old.” Providing infectious beats and electric guitar riffs, Manchester Music is sure to have you up on your feet and hungry for more.

“I am the solo act to put the garage band to bed.” – Dusty Durston explaining his debut EP, Manchester Music

Manchester Music pays tribute to the shared birthplace of a number of the project’s critical influences. And while the UK sound looms large, it’s Durston’s experiences while living in Los Angeles that ultimately shape the project, both musically and spiritually. His apartment in the Echo Park neighborhood acts as a dual recording studio and mini sanctuary to process his observations. It’s here, with a collection of cheap instruments and a punk rock recording ethos, Durston vowed to create something bigger than the sum of its parts. The result is 5 electric tracks that are equal parts summer sweetness and late-night swagger, pang, and pleasure. Kicking off the summer with his grimy debut single, “de Sade,” followed by his anthemic love letter to LA, “Valley Girls (Balisongs),” both were followed by exciting and enticing music videos. Durston’s most dancey and contemplative track to date, “Joke Got Old,” and lyric video by Joon Voigt (Everything Everywhere All At Once) was recently released. Paving the way and building the excitement for Manchester Music, these three upbeat, infectious singles did just that.
