Greider’s journey into music began at a remarkably young age, starting to write songs at eight with her childhood best friend, inspired by her friend’s dad, who played in a garage band. She nurtured her musical talents quietly, playing guitar at seven or eight after being captivated by Lindsay Lohan’s guitar solo in “Freaky Friday.” This led to a multifaceted exploration of drums, piano, and, at 15, the purchase of her first bass—a pivotal moment that shaped her musical identity.
The turning point came when her vocal coach discovered her songwriting skills. Greider, initially shy, shared her songs, marking the beginning of a transformative partnership. The performance of “Until We Meet Again” at her 8th-grade graduation was a defining moment, allowing her to showcase her true self and break free from the outsider feeling she often experienced in school. Despite offers to sell her songs as a teenager, Greider held firm to her dream of singing her own compositions. Throughout high school in Studio City, she continued writing privately, revealing this intimate side only to herself. The decision to prioritize her unique voice and style became clearer as she embraced her individuality, setting the stage for her future as an artist.
While studying film and economics at Chapman University, Greider’s musical pursuits took a temporary backseat. However, the summer of 2020, marked by a global pause, reignited her passion for music. The result was her debut full-length album, Sim Controllers, a project born from introspection and a deep dive into her experiences.
Now, with “Pockets,” Greider unveils a new chapter in her musical narrative. The single, a departure from her signature style, is piano-based and emotionally charged, featuring a production that builds alongside the intensity of her feelings. Collaborating once again with producer Topher Mohr, Greider weaves a tapestry of sound that beautifully complements the raw vulnerability of her lyrics.
