House Update – Refresh Your Home in 4 Simple Ways

Sooner or later we will all catch ourselves looking around our homes, trying to figure out the way we can make them look better. Some of us crave modern décor, others swoon over rustic trinkets, and there are those who daydream about boho and industrial design. No matter what style we prefer and would like to implement into our homes, one thing’s certain – we want it to fit and look nice. If you’re trying to find a simple way to refresh the look of your home, look no further:

    Kitchen garden

There is nothing better to enliven a space than a simple indoor plant or two (or six). If the color palette of your home is neutral, the deep green of living plants will blend in perfectly. If you don’t have enough space for a lot of big plants or you don’t have enough time to take care of them, you can also plant a small ‘garden’ in your kitchen. Put a few pots on the windowsill of the window or simply keep several tin cans on the kitchen counter and grow your own basil, oregano, mint, and rosemary.

    Replace old hardware

It’s unbelievable to see the difference the new faucet and a couple of door handles hardware will make on the overall aesthetic of your home. You can do this in your kitchen and bathroom, or simply replace a few door handles around your home. Fortunately, there are so many different options to choose from, and you will not find it difficult to pick something that fits your theme as well as your budget. Brass is always a good idea because it adds that soft, gold glow, but silvery hues can also look great, especially if you pair them with patterned ceramic knobs. What is more, you can always mix and match your metals in order to add depth.

    A fresh coat of paint

It’s not just the inside of your home that should be painted every few seasons. If you live in an area with a lot of sun such as Australia, you might want to paint your home a bit more often because the sun can cause the color to fade. Australian people can take a lot of time to paint their homes because they want to make sure that preliminary work is done before starting residential painting in Sydney. They will pay special attention that sanding, scraping, molding, patching, etc. are done before that final coat of paint is applied. This means that the paint will look better and last longer because the surface is well prepared.

    Pair up patterns

People are afraid of mixing and matching different patterns and textures together out of fear that the result will be tacky and kitsch. You should, however, reconsider this because designers all over the world are encouraging these sorts of experiments. Spanish designers are known for their love of mixing different patterns and pulling it off flawlessly. The key is to make sure that your prints and patterns complement rather than contrast each other, and you can achieve this by alternating your core color palette. By combining a mixture of bold, eye-catching prints with a couple of subtler alternatives you will create the perfect balance.

Even though it’s true that home renovation can cost a fortune if you aren’t afraid to improvise and do a bit of work yourself, you can end up with a unique interior that will make people wonder if you’ve hired a professional interior designer. Try some of these simple ways and refresh the look of your home over the course of one weekend.
