Celine Love is a young singer-songwriter of African American, Jamaican and German descent, originally from Hamburg, Germany. Celine creates a blend of soulful R&B, Bedroom Pop and Folk.

Who inspired you to make music?

My parents inspired me to make music because they are full-time musicians and I#ve never known anything else. Avril Lavigne however got me into songwriting.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

I don’t think it’s a matter of how it’s impacted the industry, it’s entirely part of it now.

The great thing about it is that it’s taken power away from unnecessary gate keepers, but it also means that a lot of young artists go into it with the incentive of ‘blowing up’ overnight.

I am mainly hopeful though; without it I would have to rely on live music far more which in the current state of the world is a very fickle thing.

Have you got a ritual of sorts when making music?

It’s definitely scrolling through my old notes to find angry, sad or funny thoughts I’ve written down.

How would you describe your music?

A blend of R&B/Indie Pop influenced by soulful folk. A little bit too honest, hopeful and a constant hint of melancholy at the same time.

    What’s next for you?

I’m most looking forward to the release of my debut EP ‘Aquarius SZN’

What are your top two favourite songs of all time? Why those songs?

‘Here’ by Alessia Cara is one of my favourite songs to perform live. When I heard this song, I knew I was going to be a fan for life and had a ‘dang, wish I wrote that’ moment. It’s so incredibly relatable.

‘Lover You Should’ve Come Over’ by Jeff Buckley always makes me want to sit down, listen and soak in the emotion. It’s an incredibly emotive vocal performance and beautiful storytelling.

What was the last series you watched on TV?

The show I’m currently watching does not need to be mentioned by anyone ever again, it’s too well known and too cringeworthy. So instead, I’ll share ‘Gentified’ on Netflix which hasn’t seen enough love.

What do you think the greatest invention has been?

    Bread. Hands down.

Do you have any lucky items, objects, or traditions?

Whenever I say that I ‘don’t’ want something to happen I try to take it back and say what I want to happen instead. My mom got me into this habit because it’s a more positive way of manifesting and has done me pretty well so far.

If you could ask your future self one question, what would it be?

If I actually had the chance to ask my future self a question, I’d make it something not too impactful so it wouldn’t stress me out.

Maybe I’d ask who Rihanna’s first baby grew up to be and if she ever released music again.

If you had to describe yourself as a flavour, what would it be?

Mint Chocolate Chip. I wish I could describe why. Just feels right.
