KYLO is an electro-pop artist based out of Toronto, Ontario. Consistently creating catchy yet experimental tracks, her vocals demand attention as they spring forth from enchanting, echoed layers.

Following the release of her debut EP Phases, she teased us with two singles, ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Your Eyes’, before dropping her latest EP EXIT (Oct 2019). EXIT delivers KYLO’s signature atmospheric and sultry vocals, while tapping into a darker, more seductive side that listeners haven’t seen from her before. KYŁO has been described as “talented, precise, succulent, and devastatingly fabulous to listen to” (Come Here Flloyd) and has been featured on Noisey, CBC, and KALTBLUT. As a Toronto local, she has played various venues across the city including the Mod Club, the Baby G, and the Drake showcasing interactive, fan-focused sets. After dropping her single “Undertow” last fall, KYLO has just released her latest track “Follow” a  vibey summer love soundtrack and is working on new music for 2022.

Kylo’s late summer single release is an emotional summer love soundtrack. Written about feeling like you’re loosing someone you have been with for a while/watching a person change and not being able to get them back; this song catches all the feels.

    Getting to know KYLO

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

I absolutely do-and I’d say mostly Shania Twain.

What was the last tv series you watched?

Probably Mare of Eastown, sooo good def recommend!

    What makes you nostalgic?

    Watching movies on vhs

What fictional character do you wish was real?

    Sabrina the teenage witch

What would be the ideal food to have cooked for you on a date night?

    Tacos and margs

Who inspired you to make music?

My Aunt Gail, who unfortunately passed away a few years ago was a big inspiration for me. She enrolled me in singing classes and music lessons growing up and always told me to go for my dreams.

If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be?

I feel like I have so many answers for this question but if i had to pick just one I would go with Grimes-just because she was what first got me into making this type of music.

Are you finding the isolation of the pandemic conducive to your writing or is it hindering the experiences you can write about?

That’s exactly it-at first, I was loving all the free time and freedom to just work on writing whatever. But then as time went on and I was in the same surroundings every day/not seeing anyone/etc I just got into a bit of a lull/creative block.

What are your musical plans for the next 12 months or so?

So I just released a new single “Follow” which I am super excited for, and the music video drops this Friday Sep 3 as well! Aside from that I am currently writing and recording a new ep over the fall/winter and planning to release it spring 2022 with a brand new live set. By then I hope I am able to play shows again and go from there!

What kind of recording facilities do you have a home?

So, at home I have my MacBook with Ableton on it and then just an interface/headphones/microphone which I use to mostly write or record rough demos. From there, I go into a professional studio to finish my songs.
