Nick has an interesting story. A comedian and DJ for many years, He only started writing music in March 2020 during the covid quarantine. Since then, he’s been all in.  Penning over 50 songs and training relentlessly for hours a day working toward a 2022 tour.  Be prepared to hear a lot of new music from him in the near future.

A lifelong entrepreneur Nick started his first business at 14 when he would DJ parties in Northern New Jersey. The business blew up and He was voted New Jersey Collegiate Entrepreneur of the Year his senior year of college and National Collegiate Entrepreneur of the Year – Runner Up. He also owned a strip club for 10 years as well as owning a Catering Hall.

What led you to become a music artist and what advice can you give to others aspiring to make a hit?

I kinda despise the “tip” question because it’s often so trite, but my answer is you gotta go all in.  If you truly need to make music and you need to express yourself, then that need will be appreciated and ultimately you will find an audience.  Authenticity is so key.  Just be you and nobody can copy you.  That’s advice that came from my journey as a comedian but I think it translates beautifully in music as well.

What does your music say about you?

Hopefully the truth.  I really want my songs to tell the story of who I am and my accentuate my sensibilities.  It’s not easy cuz sometimes you write stuff that is just cool or catchy.  But I love love, love to tell a true life story in my music.

What sets your music apart? Why is it unique, or at least uncommon?

Here’s why.  My music matches my moods.  I can write a dark love song that is so vulnerable like my new release, Second Wave of Pain.  Then minutes later I can write a song that is so silly and funny.  And I have no rhyme or reason for which will hit me at the time.  Hence why I am a singer/songwriter as well as a comedian. I enjoy the extreme opposites.

What is your favorite song to perform?

Second Wave of Pain, my most recent release, is my favorite.  It just hits me.  It’s based on a true story and it just takes me somewhere every time I sing it.  Literally has the power to make me tear up when performing it.

What are your ambitions as a songwriter and musician from here?

Consistently improve and make sure that everything I put out is something that I can be proud of and I won’t mind listening to 30 years from now.

Are you creative in other disciplines?

So many to the point it’s annoying.  I’ve shot a 1 hour comedy special that I’m still waiting to release.  I’ve made several films.  I make music.  I’ve been a DJ since middle school.  So yes, I love to express myself through art and have the utmost respect for artists of any genre.

If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?

“Who is Nick Leidl and why should we care?”

What would be the ideal food to have cooked for you on a date night?

Spaghetti & Meatballs is my absolute favorite with Chicken Parm coming in a close second.  If you can cook great Italian Food, you kinda win my heart instantly.  But to be honest, my Italian food cooking is also really good so my bar is high 🙂

What was the last TV series you watched on TV?

Euphoria was fantastic and I really enjoyed the Sex in the City reboot.  – Can you tell I got an HBO MAX free trial?

Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?

Al Pacino, but I’d settle for Fred Savage

If you had to describe yourself as a flavor, what would it be?

Garlic – some people absolutely can’t get enough of me while others get nauseous from my presence. 🙂

    What makes you nostalgic?

Literally Everything.  I’m such a mush.  It’s awesome for writing and creating but it’s not the best when I’m just trying to live a peaceful life.  That said, childhood memories (good & bad), sports, music – I’ve always associated music with nostalgic moments.  For example, any time I hear a Depeche Mode song I remember being in Hungary in 1990 for the first time.  Their posters were everywhere.

What’s your most expensive piece of clothing?

My suit collection is pretty fire.  I had a few cool sales gigs over the years and I enjoyed looking sharp on the job.

Do you have any lucky items, objects, or traditions?

I still play the Rocky Soundtrack before any big shows.  Could I be any more cliche?

    Do you have any superstitions?

“Follow the Signs” in Life. A comedian friend told me that 8 years ago and I feel like my life has been smoother since deciding to go with that belief.
