After a decade spent driving the heartbeat of bands like Exit State and Breaking Waves, across six studio albums and three live records, Peat Hicks did the one thing most musicians fear: he stopped.

That pause became a quiet turning point. Stepping away from the stage and the drum kit, Hicks found himself drawn to the glow of the mixing desk, discovering a passion for the inner architecture of a song. This shift led him to fulfill a teenage dream: writing, performing, recording, and producing a solo project entirely on his own terms.

The Album: But For How Long?

His debut solo album, But For How Long?, is an exploration of the moments that quietly define us—the ones we rarely recognize until they’ve already slipped into memory.

    • The Sound: Hicks blends rock and pop foundations with subtle electronic textures. Musically, the record draws from Keith Richards’ iconic five-string guitar tuning, woven together with the pop-leaning immediacy of artists like The 1975 and Bleachers.
    • The Themes: The tracks move through a raw emotional landscape, exploring grief, anxiety, and the fragile line between fleeting pleasure and true happiness.
    • The Artwork: The visuals portray two parallel timelines of a single life—one grounded in self-awareness and wellbeing, the other shaped by procrastination and unacknowledged mental health struggles.

The first single, “Only The Right Time,” was released on 19th March.

The second single, “Cate,” releases on 9th April.

The album “But For How Long?” releases 16th May.
