Ways Your Business Can Be More Sustainable

Sustainability is a value the younger workforce looks for in their future employers. Customers are also looking for businesses that proudly support eco-friendly practices in today’s climate. Making a push towards sustainability in your office space can make your business more desirable, save you money, and benefit the planet.

Here are a few ways your business can be more sustainable.

    Go Digital

Forget the old paper processes that have been hindering your business, and switch to digital models. Technology upgrades are continually changing offices. In most instances, they help us eliminate wasteful paper processes. Filing old documents and filling out paper forms will be a worry of the past. Technology such as digital document scanning will digitalize all your documents, so you do not have to rely on excess paper for your daily tasks.

    Provide Reusable Items

Employees love free items that represent their employers. Why not make these items useful in your office sustainability efforts? As a welcome gift, give each new employee a reusable water bottle and a branded lunchbox. Instead of providing wasteful cups or promoting employees bringing in paper bag lunches, each employee will have a sustainable bottle and lunchbox to use every day.

    Change Your Lighting

Lighting is a significant source of wasted energy in office buildings. When possible, rely on natural lighting to illuminate offices or switch to LED lights, which use significantly less energy than incandescent bulbs. Consider adding motion sensors as well to reduce the risk of lights being left on in empty rooms. The more energy you save on lighting resources, the less you will have to spend on your monthly bills.

    Offer Work From Home Days

Working from home has become the norm due to the COVID-19 pandemic, although it offers added benefits such as sustainability. Encouraging working from home reduces the number of emissions from employees commuting to and from work. It also reduces the amount of energy used in your office space.

There are several ways your business can be more sustainable, starting with digitalization, reusable items, changing office lighting, and promoting working from home.
