Dublin-based indie rock sensation Dakota 66 has debuted their first studio album, “If Not Now, When,” a musical journey echoing their past decade in the industry. With a reflective lens, the band details their lived experiences, tracing themes of love, loss, ego, joy, friendship, and the vibrancy of youth.

Across its varied tracks, “If Not Now, When” presents a gamut of sonic profiles that effortlessly morph from one song to the next. The album opens with “Bubble,” a joyous ode to cherished moments and the beauty of human connection, providing a warm welcome to the listener. It then weaves through an array of emotions, eventually arriving at “Shine,” a bold, cinematic composition capturing the joy of existence itself.

Throughout the album, Dakota 66 remains true to its core, blending thoughtful vocals, expressive percussion, and skillful guitar riffs. The result is a remarkably authentic journey through the band’s shared experiences and unique perspectives. It’s an album that promises a well-rounded emotional exploration, allowing the band to connect with their audience on a deeply human level.

Hailing from Dublin, Dakota 66 consists of J Gallagher (vocals), Brian Grace (guitar), Brian Curran (bass), and Thomas Leonard (drums). Their distinct sound draws on influences from iconic bands like The National, R.E.M., Radiohead, and renowned songwriters Bob Dylan and Sam Fender. Over the course of their decade-long journey, they’ve curated a sound that is entirely their own, effortlessly blending reflection and riveting narratives into a sonic rollercoaster.

The band’s ethos is centered around connecting with their audience, creating a musical experience that goes beyond mere melody or rhythm. “We always wanted to create music that connected with people. You feel something more than melody or rhythm, you can see into the soul of the music and band,” they express. This sense of connection is evident in “If Not Now, When,” as the band works to redefine the relationship between artist and fan, offering a raw retelling of their personal experiences.

In essence, “If Not Now, When” is an album that speaks volumes. Each track stakes a claim to a different moment in life, resulting in a dynamic, thematic exploration of existence. It’s a bridge between fans and the artist, establishing an intimate and genuine connection.

Looking ahead, Dakota 66 shows no signs of slowing down. To stay up to date with their ongoing musical journey, be sure to follow them on Instagram at @Dakota66_Band. Here’s to a band unafraid of baring their souls, sharing their experiences, and connecting with fans in the most genuine way. If not now, when? Well, the time is certainly now for Dakota 66.
