The indie folk pop artist, Eli Lev, is best known for his catchy music and impassioned lyrics. His last project was inspired by his time living in the Navajo Nation of Northern Arizona when he was a teacher. The indigenous traditions he learned during this time are the inspiration for his Four Directions project. Just as each cardinal direction holds unique characteristics in the Navajo tradition, so do each of the albums in Eli’s ‘Four Directions Project.’ Together, the series imaginatively and intrepidly connects spheres and generations within a body of work that is irresistibly uplifting, emotionally resonant, and down-to-earth authentic.
His new project was inspired by the pandemic and encapsulates all the emotions everyone went through as a collective. Releasing a series of singles throughout 2020 and 2021, each song will all be tied together in his upcoming EP, Walk.Talk.Dance.Sing, in April 2022.
The first single, released in 2020, “Be My Someone” takes on the isolation. He sings about co-existing with his partner. It has a strong indie pop sound, reminiscent of Bon Iver. The second single which was released in 2021, “Dancin’ on the Lawn”is Eli’s song of hope after the pandemic ends. He sings that we will all be connected once again with live music and festivals. This song is also very indie pop, but more of a Jason Mraz style with a Bon Iver undertone. “My entire 2020 tour was canceled because of the pandemic and I truly missed being able to share my songs with folks face-to-face so I wrote this song about the day in the future where we’d all be dancing together again,” he shares. The third single, also released in 2021, “Move As You Do” is a more deliberate indie pop song about the uncertain future, and just taking everything one day at a time. You may not reach your goals as quickly as you like, but you will get there.

His most recent single, released on February 25, 2022, “Vacation” is a happy and upbeat song about getting a physical and mental vacation from the madness that is the pandemic. This song takes the mundane in life that we were forced to experience and makes it fun, a reminder that with the right mindset, we can get through anything. “Escape! Travel! Movement! These three things were essentially non-existent and forbidden for two years during the pandemic so I wrote Vacation as a way to remind myself that everyday I could put myself in the same mental state if I was thankful for my partner and everything we had in life,” shares Eli. “We could be each other’s escape and peaceful feeling. I wrote this song turning all the mundane tasks of everyday living during the pandemic into something exotic and special and interesting – kind of like an extremely long vacation!”
